The combat menu

Combat is an integral part of Witch Spring. Fighting opponents is necessary to get through the main story and acquire various materials from the enemies that carry them.

As the very first game in the series, the game has the simplest combat mechanics. Pieberry has five options in the combat menu: clockwise from the top, the icons are for Spells, Physical Attacks, Pet Skills, Fleeing, and Items.

About Combat[]

Equipment[]

Unlike the other games in the series, Pieberry only receives one set of equipment by visiting the five Springs. Once the items are equipped, they cannot be removed. Each equip gives Pieberry a special ability in battle.

  • Arua Wand: Spells have a chance to crit for 200% damage.
  • Aimhard Shoes: Can cause enemy attacks to miss.
  • Eliycion Robe: If Pieberry's HP drops to 0, half her maximum HP is automatically restored. (Activates once per battle.) Also allows her to enter North Snow Field.
  • Durok Glove: Physical attacks have a chance to crit for 300% damage.
  • Aramute Hat: Spell crit damage increased to 300%. (Post-game only.)

Tiredness[]

Enemies will block Pieberry's way as she explores the different parts of Vavelia, and they must be defeated in order to continue. Each fight increases Pieberry's Tiredness (Tir) by 4 (or more).

When Pieberry has 0 TIR, she gains a +20% boost to all stats. The more tired she is, the lower the boost gets and the lower her success chance during hunting/gathering will be. Sleeping, either at home or in a tent*, will halve her current TIR at the cost of 9 hours.

*It has been noted that using a tent will lower Pieberry's TIR to 0, but this is a glitch and it will display her properly-halved TIR once you leave the area you used the tent in.

Pet Skills[]

Some of the pets Pieberry can acquire have skills that are manually activated in battle. Such skills can be used from this icon. However, they usually also have an HP or MP cost and will take up a turn.

Some pets only have passive skills, and while this icon will still be present, there will be nothing under the menu once you click on it.

Fleeing[]

If an enemy is too tough, Pieberry has the option of running away from the battle. However, she can't flee from event enemies.
