Suyoung Jang (장수영) is the founder of Kiwi Walks who spearheaded the Witch Spring series.

On top of being the games' director, he also does the bulk of the work for the games, including: concept art, story writing, programming, 3D art (models), UI design, and sound effects. For all three games, however, he has hired freelancers for in-game illustrations and music.

Ws defense game

In an article on the game's official Naver community, Suyoung detailed how the first game came about. After a New Year's party in 2015,[1] he had been talking with friends about making something he liked. He decided to create a game and developed Pieberry as his game's central character. At first, the game was designed as a defense game with pixel graphics where she would have to repel waves of enemies using her spells.

However, around the end of January, early into production, he found there was one glaring problem—he didn't like defense games. Too attached to the character he had created to give up on her, though, he eventually decided to rewrite his story for her and turned it into a role-playing game. Most of his friends believed that trying to make an RPG on his own would be too difficult, but Suyoung decided to follow in the path of Her Knights (그녀의 기사단) creator Kim Gwangsam, who had similarly created a commercial game all on his own.[2]

After some more development, he ended up working with student illustrator Daeun Kim, who further refined Pieberry's design. Though Suyoung had initially planned 20 endings to the game, Daeun was too busy with school and was only able to produce nine illustrations.[1] The game was published May 17, 2015, around 5 months after development started.

Witch Spring 2[]

Not much is documented about development for Witch Spring 2. Suyoung posted a few illustrations of Luna and Pieberry on the game's official Naver community, mostly after the game's release. However, a glimpse of Suyong's concept art for Luna can be seen in earlier game trailers.

Witch Spring 3[]

As with the previous games, Suyoung devised Eirudy's original concept art before Jiseon Hong, the game's final illustrator, finalized the art.

Witch Spring 4[]

Suyoung created several pieces of concept art for Witch Spring 4 before the official illustrator was selected. Three of his Moccamori illustrations were made public in October 2018: full-body character design, a chibi, and an environmental piece featuring Moccamori in her throne.

Almost all the artwork and graphics in the first trailer, released January 12, 2019, was created by Suyoung. In February and March, recruitment notices for an illustrator and a 3D artist were posted on KiwiWalks' website and social media.
